O worshipper of the formless Infinite, Reject not form, what lives in form is He. Each finite is that deep Infinity Enshrining His veiled soul of pure delight. Form in its heart of silence recondite Hides the significance of His mystery, Form is the wonder-house of eternity, A cavern of the deathless Eremite. There is a beauty in the depths of God, There is a miracle of the Marvellous That builds the universe for its abode. The One, in His glory multitudinous, Bursting into shape and colour like a rose, Compels the great world-petals to unclose. ,(Sri Aurobindo)
The piece of wood does not have at any time the power to act and know, but is able to do both, by being identified with the Self., (Siddhanta Panjara of Vinayaka)
Japo jalpah shilpam sakalam api mudra-virachana Gatih pradaksinya-kramanam asanady'ahuti-vidhih; Pranamah samvesah sukham akilam atmarpana-drsa Saparya-paryayas tava bhavatu yan me vilasitam. Let the mutterings that I do, With the sacrifice in my soul. Become chanting of your name, Let all my movements become thine Mudhras, Let my travel become perambulations around thee, Let the act of eating and drinking become fire sacrifice to thee, Let my act of sleeping becomes salutations to you , And let all actions of pleasure of mine, Become parts of thine worship., (Soundarya Lahari)
The sky is encompassed by clouds. With the hue of Tamala trees, darksome appear the sites of woods. This dear Kahna feels very timid at night. O Radha! You therefore please accompany him to reach home aright.' Thus by the words of King Nanda, stepped ahead both Radha and Madhava towards the tree of bowers on the way. Glory to their plays of love, secret and gay, on the bank of river Yamuna., (Jayadeva)
After much wandering I have come back home Where the wheel of time and change turns not Where the natives are rich in the wealth of the heart Where all live ever free in the City of God, (Ravidas)
Thy body may be beautiful and glow with flawless health, Thy fame colossal and thou mayest have won to fabulous wealth, But if to the Guru's feet thy heart untethered still remain. Then all thou hast achieved on earth is vain, is vain, is vain. Thou mayest be deep-versed in all that scripture have to tell A beacon of light, a master of prose and verse delectable, But if to the Guru's feet thy heart untethered still remain. Then all thou hast achieved on earth is vain, is vain, is vain., (Adi Shankaracharya)

Suppose a net has been cast into a lake to catch fish. Some fish are so clever that they are never caught in the net. They are like the ever-free [souls]. But most of the fish are entangled in the net. Some of them try to free themselves from it, and they are like those who seek liberation. But not all the fish that struggle succeed. A very few do jump out of the net, making a big splash in the water. Then the fishermen shout, ’Look! There goes a big one!’ But most of the fish caught in the net cannot escape, nor do they make any effort to get out. On the contrary, they burrow into the mud with the net in their mouths and lie there quietly, thinking, ‘We need not fear any more; we are quite safe here.’ But the poor things do not know that the fishermen will drag them out with the net. These are like the men bound to the world. (Sri Ramakrishna)
This song of mine will wind its music around you, my child, like the fond arms of love. The song of mine will touch your forehead like a kiss of blessing. When you are alone it will sit by your side and whisper in your ear, when you are in the crowd it will fence you about with aloofness. My song will be like a pair of wings to your dreams, it will transport your heart to the verge of the unknown. It will be like the faithful star overhead when dark night is over your road. My song will sit in the pupils of your eyes, and will carry your sight into the heart of things. And when my voice is silenced in death, my song will speak in your living heart. (Rabindranath Tagore)
All these forms—appearance emptiness Like a rainbow with its shining glow In the reaches of appearance emptiness Just let go and go where no mind goes Every sound is sound and emptiness Like the sound of an echo’s roll In the reaches of sound and emptiness Just let go and nowhere no mind goes Every feeling is bliss and emptiness Way beyond what words can show In the reaches of bliss and emptiness Just let go and go where no mind goes All awareness—awareness emptiness Way beyond what thought can know In the reaches of appearance emptiness Let awareness go—oh, where no mind goes. (Khenpo Tsultrim Rinpoche)
God and His splendour. God alone is real; the splendour has but a two days existence. The magician and his magic. All become speechless with wonder at the magic, but it is all unreal. The magician alone is real. The rich man and his garden. People see only the garden; they should look for its rich owner. (BHAGAVAN SRI RAMAKRISHNA)
When the speech of this dead person enters into the fire, breath into the air, the eye into the sun, the mind into the moon, the hearing into space, into the earth the body, into the ether the self, into the shrubs the hairs of the body, into the trees the hairs of the head, when the blood and the seed are deposited in the water, where is then that person? (Brihadaranyaka Upanishad)
Who is it that steers your boat across the solid earth? It is your guru, says Kabir; Meditate on his holy feet. (SONG from GOSPEL OF SRI RAMAKRISHNA)
Bright but hidden, the Self dwells in the heart. Everything that moves, breathes, opens, and closes Lives in the Self. He is the source of love And may be known through love but not through thought He is the goal of life. Attain this goal! (Mandukya Upanishad)
As by knowing one lump of clay, dear one, We come to know all things made out of clay- That they differ only in name and form, While the stuff of which all are made is clay;… So through spiritual wisdom, dear one, We come to know that all life is one. In the beginning was only Being, One without a second. Out of himself he brought forth the cosmos And entered into everything in it. There is nothing that does not come from him. Of everything he is the inmost Self. He is the truth; he is the Self supreme. You are that, you are that. (Chandogya Upanishad)
I greet the name Rama of the chief of Raghus, which is composed of seed-letters representing the fire-god, the sun-god and the moon-god. It is attribute less, peerless and a mine of virtues. It is the great spell which Lord Maheshvara mutters and which, when imparted by Him at Kasi leads to emancipation. (GOSWAMI TULSIDAS)
Drink the nectar of pure Nada, O mind. Sri Rama is the incarnation of Omkara, which is the essence of the Vedas and Shastras. (SAINT THYAGARAJA)

At the centre of the earth, there stands a great mountain, Lord of Snows, majestic, rooted in the sea, its summit wreathed in clouds a measuring rod for all creation. (Kalidasa)
The disciple leads the prana until Mooladhara. The air thus inspired awakens the lower Fire which was asleep, meditating on Pranava that is nothing else than Brahman, And concentrating his thought, he rises the breath until to the lower Fire, until the navel and beyond, within the subtle body. On the top of the body, over the head there is the lotus with thousand petals, shining like the heavenly Light. It's that which gives the liberation. Its secret name is Kailash, the mountain where Shiva abides. The one who knows this secret place is delivered from samsara. (Amritananda Upanishad)
Divine Grace May the Self of the universe be pleased with this sacrifice of words and bestow His grace on me. May the sinners no longer commit evil deeds, may their desire to do good increase, and may all beings live in harmony with one another. May the darkness of sin disappear, may the world see the rising of the sun of righteousness, and may the desires of all creatures be satisfied. May everyone keep the company of saints devoted to God, who will shower their blessings on them. Saints are walking gardens filled with wish-fulfilling trees, and they are living villages of wish-fulfilling gems. Their words are like oceans of nectar. They are moons without blemish and suns without heat. May these saints be the friends of all people. May all beings in all three worlds be filled with joy, and may they worship God forever. (Saint Jnaneswar)
He who chooses the Infinite has been chosen by the Infinite. he has received the divine touch without which there is no awakening, no opening of the spirit; but once it is received, attainment is sure, whether conquered swiftly in the course of one human life or pursued patiently through many stadia of the cycle of existence in the manifested universe. (Sri Aurobindo)
The five senses of the awakened always remain inactive. The five senses of the slumber always remain active. By means of the active five one acquires bondage while by means of the inactive five the bondage is severed. (Lord Mahavira)
The wheel of Time moves on, ideas change, values remodel themselves in the light of circumstances, cultures evolve, decline and are resuscitated again in different forms. But the individuality of life, the spirit of aspiration, the urge for freedom from all conditions of bondage, the sense of inadequacy and want, continue to persist. So, human life will continue to flourish. (Swami Sivananda)
“There is no doubt about the sanctity of GOD's name. But can a mere name achieve anything, without the yearning love of the devotee behind it? One should feel great restlessness of soul for the vision of GOD. Suppose a man repeats the name of GOD mechanically, while his mind is absorbed in 'women and gold'. Can he achieve anything?”
Know him to be the primal source of life Whose glory permeates the universe, Who is beyond time and space, yet can be Seen within the heart in meditation. (Shvetashvatara Upanishad)
Do not be one who sits on the wayside and weeps just because one has fallen. The Upanishads say:
God is the One mystic Sound, His name is Truth, He is the Creator, Without Fear, Without Enmity, Timeless Form, Unborn and Self-existent, Known by the Guru's Grace. He was the Truth in the beginning, Truth when time began, even now He is the Truth and will always be the Truth. (Guru Nanak)

Truth alone triumphs, not untruth. By truthfulness the path of felicity is opened up, the path which is taken by the sages, freed from cravings, and which leads them to truth's eternal abode. (Mundaka Upanishad)
She is the All-Blissful Mother. She creates, preserves and dissolves in Her sport. There are numberless beings, but only one or two of them attain salvation – that alone makes Her happy. ‘She claps and laughs when She sees one or two kites out of millions breaking free of their strings.’ Likewise, some people are being entangled in the world and some are being liberated. (BHAGAVAN SRI RAMAKRISHNA)
Neither by Yoga, nor by Sankhya, nor by work, nor by learning, but by the realisation of one's identity with Brahman is Liberation possible, and by no other means. (Vivekachudamani)
If there is anything besides the Self there is reason to fear? Who sees the second? First, the ego arises and sees objects as external. If the ego does not rise, the Self alone exists and there is no second. (Ramana Maharshi)
The power of divine love cannot be fathomed, it cannot be described. It will follow you wherever you go, whatever you are, whatever you have done. Even if you go to hell, it will reach out for you there and break hell to pieces and redeem you. (Swami Chidananda Saraswati)

Narayana is eternal. Narayana is Brahma. Narayana is Siva. Narayana is Indra. Narayana is time. Narayana is the directions. Narayana is below. Narayana is above. Narayana is within. Narayana is without. Narayana is the entire created material universe. (Srimad Bhagavatam (2.6.32))
One who knows for certain that this manifold and wonderful universe is nothing, becomes desireless and pure Intelligence, and finds peace as if nothing exists. (Asthavakra Gita)
I want to ply my boat, many times, across the gulf-after-death, and return to earth's shores from my home in Heaven. I want to load my boat With those waiting, thirsty ones who are left behind, And carry them by the opal pool of iridescent joy where my Father distributes His all-desire-quenching liquid peace. (Paramahansa Yogananda)
Can water drink itself? Can water drink itself? Can a tree taste its own fruit? The worshiper of God must remain distinct from Him. Only thus will he come to know God's joyful love. But if he were to say that God and he are one, that joy and love would vanish instantly. (Saint Tukaram)
A drop Melting into the sea, Everyone can see. But the sea Absorped In a drop — A rare one can follow! (Saint Kabir)

Ya devi sarva bhutesu, shanti rupena sansitha Ya devi sarva bhutesu, shakti rupena sansthita Ya devi sarva bhutesu, matra rupena sansthita Namastasyai, namastasyai, namastasyai, namo namaha! The goddess who is omnipresent as the personification of universal mother The goddess who is omnipresent as the embodiment of power The goddess who is omnipresent as the symbol of peace I bow to her, I bow to her, I bow to her again & again (Devi Mahatmyam)

Be in oneness with your Inner Self and do all of your duties; nothing will touch you or pollute you. This living in identity with your Inner Self will give you the attitude of equanimity. To shine is your birthright. There is no darkness in you. When you are the Light, why then do you pray tamaso ma jyotirgamaya? You pray this way because there is something that has come a covering. Therefore the prayer asks for the removal of that which covers your effulgence, the radiance that is your birthright. (Swami Chidananda Saraswati)
Hymn to Surya His rays, like heralds, bear him up aloft, The god who knoweth all that lives, Surya, that all may look on him. The constellations steal away, like thieves, Together with their beams, before the all-beholding Sun. His herald rays are seen afar refulgent o'er the world of men, Like flames of fire that burn and blaze. Swift and all beautiful art thou, O Surya, Maker of the light, illuming all the radiant sky. Thou goest to the host of gods, Thou comest hither to mankind, Hither all light to be beheld. With that same eye thou look'st, O purifying Varuna, upon the busy race of men. Traversing sky and wide mid-air, Thou metest with thy beams our days, Sun, Seeing all things that have birth. Seven bay steeds harnessed to thy car bear thee, O thou far-seeing one, God, Surya, with the radiant hair. The Sun has harnessed the seven shining daughters of his chariot. He advances, driving his well-trained team. Looking upon the loftier light above the darkness We have come to Surya, God among the gods, the highest light. **** Rig Veda 1.50
Why do you bother yourself with infinity? Do I need to touch your whole body to touch you? If you wish to take a dip in the Ganges, do you have to touch the water of the Ganges from Hardwar to Gangasagar? ‘All troubles cease when the ego dies’. As long as one retains the feeling of ‘I’, so long one is conscious of differentiation. Nobody can know, nobody can express by word of mouth, what remains after the ego vanishes. Only that which exists remains. (BHAGAVAN SRI RAMAKRISHNA)
The entire range of earthy human experiences being confined and limited to this relative plane, that which transcends it is totally free. When an air balloon that is tied to the ground is united from its moorings, it rises up. But if you want it to rise higher and higher you have to remove the ballast. Even so, we have to throw out of ourselves all that is unnecessary to this ascent of the Spirit. If you recognize that you are essentially pure Spirit, then instantaneously you will recognize that you abide in Bliss. (Swami Chidananda Saraswati)
However evil-minded other people may appear to you, it is not proper to hate or despise them. Likes and dislikes, love and hatred are equally to be eschewed. It is also not proper to let the mind often rest on objects or affairs of mundane life. As far as possible one should not interfere in the affairs of others. (Sri Ramana Maharshi)

The Virture of Love the Heart’s natural love is the principal requisite to attain a holy life. When this love, the heavenly gift of Nature, appears in the heart, it removes all causes of excitation from the system and cools it down to a perfectly normal state; and, invigorating the vital powers, expels all foreign matters- the germs of diseases-by natural ways (perspiration and so forth). It thereby makes man perfectly healthy in body and mind, And enables him to understand properly the guidance of Nature. (Sri Yukteswar)
Trouble and disease have a lesson for us. Our painful experiences are not meant to destroy us, but to burn out our dross, to hurry us back Home. No one is more anxious for our release than God. (PARAMAHAMSA YOGANANDA)
Weep not my child. A glorious, brilliant future awaits you. Strive to come out of this false cage of illusion. If you truly and sincerely attempt, if you try with all your might to achieve this end, by the Lord's Grace you shall drive away the dark clouds of ignorance and shine in your pristine glory. (Swami Sivananda)
Within the body lies the essence which the Vedas and the Puranas are seeking. Within this body exists the entire Universe, so the sagacious Saints say. Recluses, ascetics and monks are searching for Him in variegated garbs. Rishis, munis and avdhoots lay stress on scriptures and holy books. The learned of the world, puffed up with pride in their scholarly traditions, remain deluded by their erudition. They delude the world through the practice of pilgrimage, fasting and charity; They glorify bathing in holy waters and their gollowers bear the evil consequences. They get lost in rituals and external observances and never can reach the destination. Such is the state of people in this world Who keep revolving in the cycle of eighty-four. Only the Saints have attained the Ultimate, O Tulsi, They obtain liberation who realize this truth. The pedantic are engrossed in the practice of traditions, And evermore, in their ego, are they enslaved by delusion (Goswami Tulsidas)
Shankaracharya had a certain disciple, who served him long without receiving any teaching. One day, hering footseps behind him he asked,
In the seed there is nothing but the seed - no diversity. At the same time there is the notion of potential diversity [of flowers, fruits] supposedly present in the seed. Even so, cosmic consciousness is one, devoid of diversity; yet the universe of diversity is said to exist only in notion. (Sage Vasishtha)
That Supreme Being is nothing but pure grace, an abundance of grace divine to sincere seeking souls. They have chosen Him as their all in all, their be-all and end-all, their supreme goal. He responds in a special way to those who want Him and Him alone. To them, special grace is directed. (Swami Chidananda)

“….. ……. Remain alone in peace. Only when you are alone, do you feel the company of the Divine more clearly. Remain alone with the Divine. The Divine within, is company enough for us all. Remember Buddha’s instruction : Roam about free and alone like the rhinoceros.”
The light of human beings Once when sage Yajnavalkya came to the court of King Janaka, the King welcomed him with a question. Janaka said: Yajnavalkya, what serves as the light for man? Yajnavalkya said: The light of the sun, Your Majesty; for by the light of the sun man sits, goes out, does his work, and returns home. Janaka said: ‘True indeed, Yajnavalkya. But when the sun has set, what serves then as his light? Yajnavalkya said: The moon is then his light. Janaka said: When the sun has set, O Yajnavalkya, and the moon has set, what serves then as his light? Yajnavalkya said: ‘The fire is then his light. Janaka said: When the sun has set, O Yajnavalkya, and the moon has set, and the fire has gone out, what serves then as his light?’ Yajnavalkya said: ‘Sound is then his light; for with sound alone as his light, man sits, goes out, does his work, and returns home. Even though he cannot see his own hand, yet when he hears a sound he moves towards it. Janaka said: True indeed, O Yajnavalkya. When the sun has set, and the moon has set, and the fire has gone out, and no sound is heard, what serves then as his light?’ Yajnavalkya said: ‘The Self indeed is his light; for by the light of the Self man sits, moves about, does his work, and when his work is done, rests.’ Janaka said: ‘Who is that Self?’ Yajnavalkya said: ‘The self-luminous being who dwells within the lotus of the heart, surrounded by the senses and sense organs, and who is the light of the intellect, is that Self. Becoming identified with the intellect, he moves to and fro, through birth and death, between this world and the next. Becoming identified with the intellect, the Self appears to be thinking, appears to be moving. While the mind is dreaming, the Self also appears to be dreaming, and to be beyond the next world as well as this. (Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 4:3:1-7).
Tell me, O Swan, your ancient tale. From what land do you come, O Swan? to what shore will you fly? Where would you take your rest, O Swan, and what do you seek? Even this morning, O Swan, awake, arise, follow me! There is a land where no doubt nor sorrow have rule: where the terror of Death is no more. There the woods of spring are a-bloom, and the fragrant scent He is I is borne on the wind: There the bee of the heart is deeply immersed, and desires no other joy.
Glimpse of the Invisible Lightning flashed in my eye, O friend, And brightly did shine the light of the moon. I got a glimpse of the Invisible within, And thirst and longing for the Lord were aroused. My ears received the boon of Unstruck Music, And Knowledge came like the explosion of light, O Friend. Dark clouds began to scatter and the sight Of the Divine Mansion was revealed unto me. Beyond the sun, the moon and the tunnel, Tulsi beheld the abode of the Lord Almighty. (Tulsidas)
I salute the Son of Vayu (wind), Hanuman, Who is the abode of immeasurable strength, Who is tall like a golden mountain, Who is like the fire for the forest like demons, Who is foremost among the learned, Who is the place of cessation of qualities, Who is the leader of the monkeys, and Who is the dear devotee of Rama. Bright but hidden, the Self dwells in the heart. Everything that moves, breathes, opens, and closes Lives in the Self. He is the source of love And may be known through love but not through thought He is the goal of life. Attain this goal! (Mundaka Upanishad)
Through all this world strode Vishnu: thrice his foot he planted, and the whole world was gathered in his footsteps. Vishnu, the guardian, he whom none deceiveth, made three steps and established his laws. -the Sama Veda (8:2:5)
Prayer O All-Merciful Lord! Time is fleeting. The senses are revolting. The mind is jumping. Maya is deluding. The three fires are burning. The five afflictions are tormenting. Friends are disturbing. Diseases are troubling. The heat of the summer is scorching. Flies, mosquitoes, bugs and scorpions are teasing. The charms of the world are tempting. I can neither concentrate nor meditate. I cannot do anything in the spiritual path without Thy benign grace. O Lord! Thou art an ocean of mercy. Bless me. If I get a drop from that ocean, will it dry up? O Adorable Lord! People proclaim that Thou art Deenabandhu, Deenanath, Kripa Nidhan, Karuna Sagar, Anatha Rakshaka. Thou hast saved Ahalya, Draupadi, Prahlad, Dhruva, Gajendra, but in my case, Thou hast not done anything. I am still in pain, agony and darkness. I am crying for Thy grace and help. O absentee landlord of this world! Where hast Thou gone? O Self-Effulgent Lord! The fish cannot live without water. The sunflower cannot live without the sun. The Pativrata cannot live without her husband. The mind cannot live without Prana. The flame of the lamp cannot burn without oil. So also, I cannot live without Thee. O Lord, come, come, enthrone Thyself in my heart. Thou art the Prana of my Pranas. Thou art the Soul of my soul. Thou art Light Divine. Thou art Light of Knowledge. Thou art the Dispeller of darkness. Thou art the Supreme Guru. Thou art beyond the reach of mind and speech. Thou art beyond any kind of limitation. Thou art the Over- soul. Thou art the Self of this universe. Thou art self-luminous. Thou art without parts, without actions, without limbs, without any taint or fault, without birth and death. Thou art our Father, Mother, Brother, Friend, Guru, Relative and sole Refuge. Thou art the embodiment of Peace, Bliss, Knowledge, Power, Strength and Beauty. O All-Merciful Lord! Through Thy grace, may I realise Truth! May I always entertain sublime thoughts! May I realise myself as the Light Divine! May I serve humanity with Atma Bhav! May I be free from greed, lust, egoism, jealousy and hatred! May I behold the one sweet Immortal Self in all beings! May I realise Brahman with pure understanding! May that Light of lights ever guide me! May He cleanse my mind of all impurities! May He inspire me! May He bestow on me power, courage and strength! May He remove the veil of the mind! May He remove all obstacles in the spiritual path! May He make my life happy and fruitful! I bow to Thee, O Lord of lords, O God of gods, O Deva of Devas, O Brahman of the Upanishads, the Support for Maya and Isvara!
Prayer to Lord Shiva The leaves of life are falling off . Youth is fading . The days are rolling on . Time , the destroyer , lays his hands on the whole world . Existence in this world is as momentary as a bubble or lightening . O lord Shiva ! Protect me . O Lord Shiva! Who holds the begging bowl of the skull of Brahma ! Control this monkey mind which jumps at its sweet will on the branches of desires in the forest of Lust and keep it with Thee for ever .
THE SUPREME WITNESS The silent Sakshi, the Supreme Self silently looks from above the activities of the mind of the individual soul like a spectator. He is quite indifferent and unconcerned. He is quite unaffected like water on the lotus leaf. The individual soul identifies himself with the body and mind, works and enjoys the sensual objects with avidity, cupidity and stupidity and is bound thereby.
In the Manasa - Sarovar (the deep, placid mind lake) of every man, there lurks a poisonous cobra, with six hoods: lust, anger, greed, attachment, pride and hate, infesting the air and destroying all who are near it. The name of the Lord, when it dives into the depths, forces it to come up to the surface so that it may be destroyed. So, allow the Divine in you, the Krishna, Lord of the mind, let him trample on the hissing hoods and take out the vicious viper; let it vomit the venom and become sathvic and sweet. Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba
Start the Day with Love; Spend the Day with Love; Fill the Day with Love; End the Day with Love; This is the way to God. Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba
Man extols God as omnipresent, omniscient, and omnipotent, but, he ignores His Presence in himself! Of course, many venture to describe the attributes of God and proclaim Him to be such and such; but, these are but their own guesses and the reflections of their own predilections and preferences. Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba
Each religion forgets that God is all Forms and all Names, all attributes and all assertions. The Religion of Humanity is the sum and substance of all these partial faiths; for, there is only one Religion and that is the Religion of Love. The various limbs of the elephant that seemed separate and distinct to the eye-less seekers of its truth were all fostered and activated by one single stream of blood; the various religions and faiths that feel separate and distinct are all fostered by a single stream of Love. Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba
